🗓️ Time Blocking Has Really Changed My Productivity!
you should try it too!
🗓️ Calendar apps and calendars in general have always been very uncomfortable for me to use and integrate properly into my workflow.
I always go back to traditional task apps like TickTick or my Notion tasking setups I have made over the years. I’m not sure if it was the lack of discipline that calendar apps enabled for me or maybe I hated deciding whether to use Google or Apple! 😂
Either way… I am here now and I am NOT going back!
If you have never tried or heard of time blocking it’s the process of blocking out chunks of your day for specific tasks on your calendar so you know what you are getting into well before you are near the time you plan to complete the task.
Part of what I love about it is the flexibility! It’s as concrete as you need it to be when you need it to be. There is enough planning in place to not let chaos control your days but also tasks can easily be shifted around and you don’t feel as if you are procrastinating because in the end life happens and we need to accept that we most likely won’t get everything 100% complete like we planned!
Sudden events do come up and this perfectly aligns with that mentality!
I found that most people time block and plan based on weeks so I coordinate it with my weekly work schedule as well. Every Saturday night I plan the next week out and my official start date for the next week is always Sunday!
Although I wouldn’t use Notion personally for time blocking long term, If you want to give it a try, I created a very basic template in Notion that someone could use to try out time blocking!
Again, this is very bare-bones… but if you have never tried time blocking or the thought of using a calendar app and trying to stick to using a new application sounds scary this could be a good way to dip in the calendar time blocking world!
